About
appbits is a one-person studio in Denmark. I'm Illia Veremiev, and I build and run everything myself.
Why appbits
A lot of simple jobs on the web come with an account to make, an app to install or a cloud to upload into first. appbits is a shelf of small web apps that each do one thing well: you open one in your browser and get it done.
How the apps are built
- No account. Open the page and it works. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to install.
- No ads and no cookies. The apps are free, and nothing follows you from site to site.
- Your data stays yours. Where it can, the work happens in your browser. Toss, for example, sends files straight from one browser to the other; they never pass through our servers.
- Cheap to run, so free to use. Small apps on light infrastructure cost little, and that keeps them free.
- Open about what's measured. Every app's privacy page lists exactly what it counts and how to turn it off.
The apps
- Toss: get a file from anyone, straight from their browser.
- Jot: a shared text document that lives only on your devices.
Toss is the first. The next one is being built.
